Ice cream, your description of the cuisine is a good one. I call it Adriatic. Their outdoor wood burning grill does some amazing work too...

Looking for German style restaurant in Albany NY - Saratoga Springs area.
Went to the Heidelberg Restaurant in Queensbury for the first time about a month ago. Wurst platter and all sides (soup, salad, german potato salad, potato pancake, red cabbage) were quite nice. The sauerbraten, however, was bizarrely bad -- the worst I've ever had. Like a thick slice of overcooked roast beef with sour sauce poured over it.

Bedford, New York: 3 questions/requests for recommendations
Bedford Post Inn is a charming and elegant place for a meal. There are 2 restaurants at the Inn -- the dinner-only and quite pricey Campagna and the more casual Barn. The latter serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Barn might be a very nice venue for your post memorial lunch -- if they can accommodate a large crowd. Here's the menu in case you want to check it out and give them a call: http://campagna-bedford.com/#the_barn_menus

Not true -- he sold it in December 2013 per articles I was just able to find. So unless it has changed ownership again, I think it was the current owners last spring.
They had a really nice Sunday afternoon party to say goodbye to Phil and introduce the new owners that they invited everyone on their mailing list to when it occurred. It was quite nice. Sadly it did not convince me to eat there with the new ownership.

Ramen in Nassau County
I've had good ramen at Arata in Syosset and Koiso in Carle Place. Not Ippudo level, but...

Friday night Fish Fry on Long Island
In the summer season, you will find events like that at various churches and firehouses, as fund raisers. I'm on the east end and we have our share, since we're a little more old fashioned. Not sure about the rest of the Island.
If I hear of any after it warms up, I'll be sure to let you know. As scunge says, more chicken than fish but it runs the gamut. Right now there are plenty of pancake breakfasts, but that's all I've heard lately.

I have not yet tried this. But from the look of this non-burnt egg on their Facebook page, they are not hipsters, but have taken to photographing with dripping, runny stuff in the pic.. very hip...

A Couple of Things in Mt. Kisco
I just went to find the Ossobuco website and I can't find one, but the menu that pops up on open table says Blackstones and Ossobuco. If that's the case, I won't bother. And, they are already on Groupon.

Asian (Chinese and/or Thai) in or near New Rochelle
masha, not sure how far you want to drive. I like Red Lotus, it is quite good. I wasn't thrilled with Golden Rod.
Hunan Larchmont in Larchmont is fair.
Asian Wave in Thornwood is very good.
Imperial Wok in North White Plains is old time Chinese American, also good.
Some like Aberdeen, I don't.
Do not, repeat, do not bother with Queen City buffet, it is disgusting.
As to Thai and Vietnamese, you're out of luck for New Rochelle.

Palomino Larchmont
I'm feeling really out of the loop...when did Palomino in Larchmont become the Iron Horse??? It's the sister restaurant of Iron Horse in Pleasantville.
We really liked Palomino; I'm assuming it was slow business??
