Maybe out back in the barn? I know they go out around 6:30 to start milking, not sure how long they are gone.
Most of the farmers do have cell phones, so you can track them down. But they are sort of old fashioned, their regular number is all I can find, maybe call them the day before? 631-722-4241

Favorite kid-friendly restaurant - north shore LI
I would not take a child to Kitchen a Bistro, totally wrong atmosphere. Very adult, very quiet and serene, friendly, but a grownups only vibe.
Depending where you are, Mirabelle Tavern in Stony Brook, but not the more formal dining room, is a very nice casual room.

Glad to see they serve it in a cup, wouldn't want to eat that baby while I was driving in the car!

Pop's Chicken in Fleetwood - Coming soon
Seems to be a fast food fried chicken place going up quickly in the spot where the Grand Café used to be. Menu board already up doesn't look too promising, but looks can be deceiving. Tried a Google search for more info, but came up blank. Anyone here have more info?

Massa in Scarsdale has closed
It was Bistro Citron after Heathcote Tavern.
I have been to Massa several times. Not so much for real dinners but more as a place to meet people, sometimes for drinks/apps in the bar area and sometimes sitting at tables. The food was fine, even good. And I never had any problems with the parking lot. Maybe I just know where the entrance is.
I think the biggest problem is that the place is huge and it must cost a fortune to keep it going. It was never overly crowded, but there were always some people there, but clearly not enough people. If some small places can't stay afloat, it is not surprising that such a huge place can't make it.

Buffalo Area Restaurants - help me decide!
Quick report: We were in Buffalo during the crazy snowstorm so one of the three days was spent in the hotel.
What we did accomplish:
Shango (lunch) - shrimp po' boy and fried chicken sandwich. Both were delicious. Definitely recommend Shango for lunch.
Dinosaur BBQ - I had a pulled pork sandwich and he tried the three item platter of pulled pork, ribs and brisket. The sandwich was great and on the platter he liked the ribs the best. We had mac 'n cheese and corn for sides. I liked the corn better. He enjoyed both. The mac 'n cheese had a bit of a kick.
Trader Joe's (no it's not a restaurant but we picked up salads here the day before the storm to eat in the hotel room during the blizzard) - I had a Thai peanut slaw with chicken which was totally awesome and he had a Santa Fe which he really enjoyed. We also had some homemade salsa, nacho chips, spinach and kale dip, pita chips and Cowboy Bark from Trader Joe's. Everything was very good - the Cowboy Bark was so good that I bought two more bags of it the next day.
Wegman's Market Cafe (Amherst) - had lunch here on the last day - I had a fish fry and he had a muffaletta from the sandwich shop. It was great. What a great place to grab lunch! So much choice.
Also had a couple milkshakes from Anderson's - YUM!
I loved shopping at Trader Joe's - the store is not very big but it is packed with great items. I really liked that it had a neighborhood feel to it. Wegmans was also great for grocery items but the store is enormous! The donuts there did look good but I didn't end up getting any... next trip I guess.

ginger empire chinese, smithtown, new york
Ate at Empire-St James in Smithtown, formerly ESG. Not sure if this is the same restaurant. Food is good. Menu is extensive with exotic Chinese, Thai and Sushi. Clientele on a Saturday night is mostly Asian. A definite plus for Suffolk County Chinese restaurants. Good dim sum. Definitely worth a try.

Cliff's Elbow Room........... Jamesport
I think Jamesport and Laurel are the original owners, and Riverhead is another branch of the family that broke off ties. We either go to Riverhead, and always get a table in a timely manner (except Mother's Day one time, unfortunately it coincided with my husbands birthday). Or we go to Jamesport and if it's mobbed drive a couple of minutes down the road to the secluded Laurel location. Which is even smaller but no one can find it luckily, so I won't give directions. We have to keep a few secrets!
Southold I never liked, they broke off long ago and although it has been a long time for us, they seemed to have more seafood than steak. I was disappointed with the menu, not so much the food. They did have a nice location though....I think?

I got something that wasn't a wrap, it was some kind of really good bakery bread. Wish I could remember, I know I wanted to ask where they got it from though.

A Philly Question for you Buffalo People
aha, like we don't say "Philadelphia Cheesesteak" we just say "cheesesteak" or "steak sandwich"
Thank you for that, I appreciate it!

A Philly Question for you Buffalo People
We don't consider wings to be Buffalo Wings (which, as noted by WNYAmateur, are just "wings" in WNY) if they're breaded, or boneless, or baked, or sauced with something other than something resembling Frank's Hot sauce. Breaded and baked mango chutney wings are not "wings" in the Buffalo Wings sense; they're just wings.

Having breakfast on Long Island
Javier's Cafe in Smithtown today. I keep forgetting about this place.
http://www.javierscafe.com/
Omelet was well made, if nothing unusual by way of ingredients. Home fries (with peppers and onions) were well seasoned but could have been more-done (I never remember to specify such).
I suppose I'd place them solidly in the middle of the pack (of those places I mention in this thread, of course), maybe a little above average.
